Achievement Unlocked: Three Papers, One Month

This October involved running a gauntlet of conferences: German Studies Association in Atlanta (10/5-8); American Folklore Society in Minneapolis (10/18-21) and Society for Ethnomusicology in Denver  (10/26-29). I appear to have survived with a minimum of jetlag.

Better yet, I have discovered that I adore AFS’s Diamond presentation format (in other fields it’s called Pecha Kucha). It’s a 7-minute presentation with 21 slides, automatically advancing every 20 seconds. Everything is, of necessity, condensed to its bare bones, and it’s a fantastic way to present early stages of work-in-progress or to propose a research method. Plus, with a little voice-over recording, it’s distinctly well-suited for post-conference online sharing.

If you have any interest in mapping or ethnography, please enjoy.
